“CUPIDITY” is the new romantic comedy from award-winning director John Gallagher. The independent feature was shot entirely on location in New York City, and introduces a cast of exciting new talent headlined by James Gilmartin and Bethany Emerson.
Based on a story by Gallagher, “CUPIDITY” was improvised by the director and his cast, and was developed in the filmmaker’s acting class workshop at Manhattan’s Shetler Studios. “CUPIDITY” explores the pain of lost love, the horrors of dating and the search to find true romance.
“CUPIDITY” was chosen as a Closing Night Film for the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
John Gallagher’s previous movies include a trio of award winning Indies—BLUE MOON (winner, Best American Feature, Avignon/New York Film Festival) starring Ben Gazzara and Rita Moreno; THE DELI (National Board of Review Excellence in Filmmaking Award) starring Mike Starr, Matt Keeslar, Ice T, Gretchen Mol, Debi Mazar, Jerry Stiller, Chris Noth, Iman, and Michael Imperioli; and MEN LIE (winner, Audience Awards at Florida Film Festival and Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival) starring Frank Vincent, Nick Turturro, Aida Turturro and Michael Imperioli.
John Gallagher is known for working with new talent and has directed and/or produced the first movies of such stars as Amanda Peet, Gretchen Mol, John Leguizamo, Matthew Lillard, Denis Leary, and many members of the cast of THE SOPRANOS. In “CUPIDITY” he has cast the film with many actors who have studied with him for the past three years.
“CUPIDITY” is produced in association with Video Resources New York Inc. and MFX Inc. The film is directed by John Gallagher, produced by Gallagher, Alexandria Hunter, and Michael Reichman. Ira H.
